Modern Mummification for Pets

 "Butch" the Doberman Pinscher

Quite awhile ago, I watched a program about the modern mummification of beloved pets. I was astonished at how popular this now is, and just how much people will spend on it! It is possible to get a "mummiform" for your deceased pet of up to 128, 000 dollars! You can choose finishes of Marble patina, Gold leaf, Bronze patina and polished bronze... The process of modern mummification takes 5-10 months to complete and in preparation for this, the owner needs to:

Prepare the Animal
  • Obtain a watertight container such as a cooler large enough to hold your pet lying on a bed of ice.
  • If the animal is dirty, please wash and clean him.
  • Place your pet in a plastic bag.
  • Fill the container with as much ice as possible but leave enough room so that you can place your pet on top of the ice. Do not use dry ice.
  • Place a towel on top of the ice and lay your pet on top of the towel. Then cover your pet with another towel.
  • Close the container securely.
As an alternative, until it comes time for transport, you may keep the animal in a refrigerator if possible and appropriate. We do not recommend freezing the animal as freezing breaks down tissue cells.

after this you then have to prepare your pet for transportation... and wait for the "eternal memorializaton" of your beloved companion to return to you.

I think this might have been part of the program I watched:

Honestly, my two pence are that some people just have way too much money.
